What Is Full Mouth Rehabilitation?
As the name suggests, full mouth rehabilitation is the process of restoring your oral health and addressing serious oral health problems. Full mouth rehabilitation involves getting a completely custom treatment plan to restore your oral health, replace damaged or missing teeth, and restore your smile, your bite, and your confidence.
Full mouth rehabilitation is one of our specialties at Blue Line Dental. Dr. Chavez loves helping patients restore their smiles and their oral health. We work closely with you to keep your preferences, budget, and schedule in mind, and provide convenient, expert dental care in Manhattan that will provide you with a lifetime of amazing results.
Am I A Candidate For Full Mouth Rehab?
Full mouth rehabilitation can be used in a variety of situations. It’s often recommended for patients with extensive tooth decay and infected teeth, who have advanced gum disease, or who have experienced dental trauma, such as multiple broken teeth from a car accident.
The process is long, complex, and may involve some major oral surgeries. Every patient is different, too. If you’re not sure whether or not you need full mouth rehabilitation, it’s best to schedule an appointment with a dentist like Dr. Chavez. He will help you explore all of your options for restoring your smile in Manhattan.
What To Expect During The Process
The process starts with an initial consultation. Dr. Chavez will perform a comprehensive oral health evaluation, complete with digital x-rays and imaging. By understanding your current situation, he can recommend the best path forward for restoring your smile.
After your oral health evaluation, he will work with you to come up with a customized treatment plan. You will work with Dr. Chavez and our team to determine which treatments are right for your situation, and you will schedule follow-ups and treatments for the following months.
Then, you will simply come to our NYC office as scheduled. It usually takes 6-12 months to complete your full-mouth reconstruction. Of course, this can vary depending on the treatments you choose, your oral health, and a few other factors.
Common Procedures Associated With Full Mouth Rehabilitation
Everyone is different, but there are some common procedures that are involved in most full mouth rehabilitation treatments at our Manhattan dental practice. Here’s an overview of a few of them.
- Root canal therapy – Root canal therapy eliminates tooth infections and restores your oral health. Root canals may be needed if you have deep cavities or broken, cracked teeth.
- Dental crowns – Crowns are often used to cover up damaged teeth, and to protect teeth after root canal therapy. They protect the entire tooth structure from further damage, and also restore the shape and function of your teeth.
- Dental implants – Implants are a permanent method of tooth replacement, and are usually the best choice if you’ve lost some of your natural teeth. They’re more expensive than other options, but can easily last the rest of your life with proper care.
- Tooth extractions – If one or more of your teeth can’t be saved, they may need to be extracted to prepare for further treatments and minimize the risk of complications.
- Dentures – Full or partial dentures may be a good option for some patients who are on a tight budget. We provide custom-fitted, comfortable, and durable dentures at our Manhattan office.
