How to Get the Smile that Feels Just Right for You

Veneers patient in Manhattan

Your smile should make you feel confident – not shy or anxious.

We recently had a patient who was so unhappy with his teeth that he worried about smiling in social situations. Unacceptable. After Dr. Chavez placed eight veneers on his upper teeth, the patient said, “I can smile without any worries now! My teeth are beautiful!”

Yes!

If you’re concerned about chipped or discolored teeth and find yourself hiding your smile, then veneers are an excellent option for you.

Veneers Require Medical Skill with an Artistic Eye

Don’t want teeth that look like Chiclets? Do huge bright white teeth make you want to run in the other direction? Good! We don’t like that ‘look’ either.

Getting the right veneers is both art and science. They need to be skillfully and safely done, of course, but they also need to fit the rest of your features.

Choosing the Right Shade for You

Walk into any paint store, and you’ll be quickly overwhelmed by the dizzying selection of white paint on display. There are white paints with blue undertones that give a room a cool undertone, warm whites with brown and red undertones, and even grey-tinted whites that are neutral and work with just about any décor.

The same applies to teeth. Some whites will compliment you depending on your natural hair and skin undertones, while others may look fake or flat.

Another thing to consider is how light you want to go. The classic Hollywood smile looks great on the big screen but can be unnatural looking in real life. Generally, we recommend that you only go 2 to 3 shades lighter than your natural teeth color. We also recommend that you don’t pick a brighter shade than the whites of your eyes.

Dr. Chavez and our team will work with you to find the perfect shade of white for you.

Flatter Your Facial Features With the Perfect Shape

Your face is unique. Sometimes the teeth you were born with simply don’t flatter your face. The right tooth shape and length can make all your features appear more balanced and harmonious.

Do you have a round face?

Opt for thinner and longer veneers.

Long face?

Shorter veneers are best for you.

Thinking about Botox?

You may want to consider veneers first. Veneers can make you look younger by brightening your smile and making wrinkles around your mouth less prominent.

You may even want to change the shape of your teeth if you want to appear more feminine or masculine! Square-shaped veneers sharpen your facial features for a more masculine feel, whereas slightly rounded veneers give your face a softer, more feminine look.

Get Veneers That Perfectly Enhance Your Unique Features

Dental veneers are a great investment in your confidence, as well as your appearance.

It’s important to work with a doctor who takes the time to help you find the perfect type, shape, and color for your face and who matches your expectations while guiding you with their professional opinion.
